We begin this 3 nights 4 days trip to Jim Corbett and Nainital from Nainital. Nainital is one of the most popular hill stations in the state of Uttarakhand and in India. Situated in Kumaon foothills of the Outer Himalayas, Nainital has an altitude of around 2,000mts. The most unique thing about Nainital is that it is situated in a valley which has an eye shaped lake, hence the name “Nainital”.
There are many fun and adventurous things to do in Nainital whether it be for couples, family or a group of friends. You can go for a cable car ride which runs from Mallital to snow view point. The most amazing thing about this cable car ride is that it offers you a panoramic view of all the peaks of Nainital and also of Naini Lake. You can also go for a trek to Tiffin top which is around 4kms from the heart of Nainital. The sunrise views here are just mesmerizing and a definite not to miss. Go for Cheena or Naina peak if you want to witness the view of Nainital from the highest vantage point flanked by deodar trees and various types of rhododendrons. Other famous spots include Khurpatal Lake, Sariyatal and Kilbury which is a nice outing spot.
The second leg of the trip begins from Jim Corbett National Park. Jim Corbett National Park is a delight for nature lovers as it has around 500sq kms of forests, rivers, marshy lands, hills and rough terrains. It is home to a large number of animal species which includes tigers, leopards, black bear, mongoose, moose and otters. While here, you can go for a jungle safari, which gives you a sneak peek into the lives of these wild animals in enthralling landscapes and forests. Also visit Jim Corbett museum, which is dedicated to the life’s work of Jim Corbett, on whose name the national park is dedicated. You will also find a surreal waterfall amidst the jungle, known as Corbett falls, which is sure to mesmerise you.
